Christopher Kinley is the managing director of Kinley Legal. He specialises in structures designed to protect and enhance clients’ wealth and in representation of the owners and operators of ships, aircraft and international businesses. Christopher advises on matters of trust, company law, partnerships, investment funds, philanthropic foundations and other types of structure. He has experience in matters of family governance and estate planning.
Prior to the establishment of Kinley Legal, Christopher was a founding director of Alma Legal. In March 2015, his practice became Kinley Legal. Previously, Christopher worked for four years in the legal and tax advisory team of Maitland, an international legal and wealth services firm with an interest in Africa and other emerging markets.
Before joining Maitland, Christopher trained and practised at Gough & Co, a niche Isle of Man law firm, and worked in the specialist asset and project finance team at Cains, a leading Isle of Man law firm, acting exclusively for City law firms and international clients.
Matters on which he has advised include:
- the construction, financing and disposal of multi-million dollar sailing yachts and commercial vessels;
- trust and philanthropic arrangements;
- the creation and restructuring of investment funds;
- the listing of shares on international investment exchanges; and
- providing cross-border legal advice to a financial services business with customers located worldwide, including Europe and North America.
Christopher is a co-author of the Isle of Man chapter in International Tax Systems and Planning Techniques 2011/2012 (ed. Saunders) published by Sweet & Maxwell.
Christopher is an Isle of Man notary public, concentrating on the certification of multilingual documents and complex and specialised acts.
